Race to the Estate 5K

On October 13, 2018, Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano had the privilege of sponsoring the Race to the Estate 5K this October, which benefits Orthopedics at Nemours/A.I. DuPont Hospital for Children. The event took place on the beautiful grounds of the Nemours Estate, adjacent to the hospital. The Pond Lehocky Stern Giordano team led by Partner Thomas J. Giordano, Jr., Esq., traveled to Delaware to support the cause.

“I am in constant awe of the doctors and staff at DuPont,” Tom noted, “especially Dr. Reid Nichols and her team who put this event together. They helped my son and thousands of other parents whose children have orthopedic problems since birth.”

Attendees, especially the children, enjoyed hanging out and taking photos with Eagles mascot, SWOOP. Pond Lehocky is an Official Partner of the Philadelphia Eagles.

The purpose of this event is to bring awareness and support for children with clubfoot and limb deformities. Clubfoot includes a wide range of foot abnormalities, typically present at birth, in which one’s foot is twisted out of shape or position. Clubfoot can vary in severity, and children with clubfoot usually have it in both feet making it difficult to walk. Doctors are usually able to treat clubfoot without surgery for younger patients.

“It is such a scary time for parents, but [the doctors at DuPont] never waiver in their abilities or belief that your child will get better,” Tom adds. “Dr. Nichols summed it up best at the Race, she said, ‘Passion gets you started. Hope keeps you going.  Persistence gets its done.’ That is something we can all live by.”

All the proceeds from the Race will go towards supporting training healthcare professionals through centers and clinics, the provision of braces, education for families, and public awareness that clubfoot is treatable.
