Pond Lehocky welcomes Ms. Maureen “Morty” Cassidy as an associate in our workers’ compensation practice. She is a seasoned attorney that has litigated hundreds of workers’ compensation cases.
Morty has more than five years of experience in workers’ compensation at two large regional defense firms. She has extensive knowledge of the ins and outs of litigation with insurance companies and employers,which will greatly aid our clients. Morty came to Pond Lehocky because she wanted to change her focus to representing injured workers and protecting their rights. She understands how much workers’ compensation benefits can mean to a family.
“My grandmother collected workers’ compensation after my grandfather was killed in an accident at work,” she said. “That income allowed her to keep her head above water and send her children to college. She went back to work after her husband passed away, but without workers’ compensation, she would not have been able to provide her children with all the opportunities she wanted for them.”
A Delaware County native, Morty comes from a union background. Her mother was a unionized teacher and her father was a member of International Association of Machinists prior to retirement.
Morty’s passion for workers’ compensation stems from her family’s history. She wants injured workers and their families to know that she understands how difficult their situation is and that she will work tirelessly to represent them in court.
“I want to be an advocate for people like my grandmother,” she said. “I want to help those who may not have the knowledge needed to navigate the complicated nature of workers’ compensation.”
With Morty’s addition, Pond Lehocky continues to be THE Workers’ Compensation Law Firm in Pennsylvania with 33 attorneys.
