Despite the pandemic, thousands of Americans are kicking off National Volunteer Week this week, including employees at Pond Lehocky. As a joint effort with Share Food Program, full-time staff members are volunteering three days a week to aide in pandemic relief efforts, delivering needed supplies and meals to seniors as well as packaging lunches for needy families in the Philadelphia area.
Pond Lehocky launched the COVID-19 Hotline as a resource for these workers, which can be accessed by calling 267-606-4343. The hotline serves as a one-stop shop for front line workers to get help and possible benefits. For Pond Lehocky, giving back to the community is not just an option, it’s a duty.
“Giving back to the community is our social responsibility,” Pond Lehocky’s Chief Human Resources Officer Jennifer Heinz said. “It is rewarding and makes people feel good, but it is also just the right thing to do.”
Pond Lehocky staff member Perri Spector volunteered at Share packing food boxes. For Perri, it was fulfilling as she would place a can of food into the boxes and envision the families in need enjoying a meal together during difficult times.
“This experience was very humbling and put into perspective how lucky I am to be young and have the means to get by in these difficult times we are living in,” Studio Coordinator Jeffrey Baranosky said after delivering boxes of food last week to those in need. “Other than living in poverty these elders are now faced with being stuck inside their homes due to their vulnerability of the virus. Thank you for allowing me to give back to our community.”
